10 Things To Do For Free In Picton


1 Have a picnic on the Picton foreshore. Large grassy area's, shaded by tree's with
a playground for the kids.
2 Walk to Waikawa. This track begins opposite The Echo Café and Restaurant
ending at Waikawa Marina. It takes about 1 hour and is reasonably flat.
3 Explore the Esson Valley. A walking and mountain bike track that follows
alongside Picton creek through native forest. Leads to Humpries and Barnes
Dams, the town water supply for Picton.
4 Bob's Bay. Beginning from the end of Shelly Beach this easy track takes 30
minutes to reach Bobs Bay. Great picnic spot with public toilets.
5 A two hour walk in the hills behind Picton. Fantastic views of Picton Harbour and
Queen Charlotte Sound. Begins Newgate Street and ends Picton Street.
6 Fishing from the town wharf. What better way to spend a sunny afternoon. If your
lucky you may even catch your supper.
7 The Snout Track. Beginning at Shelly Beach, walk out on the peninsular to
Queen Charlotte Sound. Extensive views, public toilets and picnic tables.
8 Free music at Le Café. Regularly throughout summer live music is performed

9 Craft window shopping. There is a good selection of craft shops on Picton High
Street. Local artists hand made souvenirs etc.
10 Tuesday night yacht racing with Waikawa boating Club. Visitors welcome Phone
